When I was in London, I saw hot cross buns in every bakery. So I did a little research and learned that they are a classic Easter treat in England, comparable to “Osterpinzen” in Austria. Apparently Hot Cross Buns are traditionally served on Good Friday. The cross on the sweet yeast buns represents the Cross of Christ. Remember my post about Food Blogger Connect a little while back, where I met Farrah from Moose Maple Butter. Well ever since I tried her delicious organic butter flavored with real maple syrup, I have been thinking what I could bake with it. Maybe overthinking a bit too much and that may be the reason why it took me so long to come up with this recipe :)
