Travel Diary Slovenia Part 1

travel diary slovenia

Back in August I was invited by the lovely team from Best Press Story to explore the Slovenien countryside, namely the region of Prekmurje. I had never been to Slovenia, which is such a shame considering it isn’t far from Austria and was very excited to see what Prekmurje had to offer.

If I had to sum up the trip in two words, it would be endless food & booze. The hospitality in Slovenia is absolutely unbeatable. At every farm, restaurant and hotel we were greeted with enough food for a tour bus and there were only 7 of us!

We started our first day in Slovenia with a tour of the Livada Prestige Hotel, which is famous for its black, healing thermal water. After excercising our putting skills on the hotel’s golf course, we had a delicious lunch on the terrace.

Later we enjoyed a relaxing massage by the pool before going to a wine tasting at the Steyer winery. The newly renovated winery is famous for its Gewürztraminer, my personal favorite was their Sauvignon Blanc 2014 and I even brought two bottles of it home with me. After a few too many glasses and delicious ham and cheese, it was time to head back to our hotel for even more food!
