Last week I had the best sandwich in London. I was strolling with my boyfriend around Covent Garden where we saw the most appealing hot turkey sandwich at Benugo. We simply couldn’t resist an early Christmas dinner ;) It was spicy from the mustard and sweet from the cranberry sauce. In the middle, there was succulent turkey breast which was still warm on a bed of fresh salad and crispy bacon. I immediately fell in love :)
This is how they made the sandwich at Benugo. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the finished product because it was gone so fast…
So after this amazing experience, I immediately called my mom to make sure that we were having turkey for Christmas. As you can imagine, my family and friends have now been eating my version of Benugo’s hot turkey sandwich for the past few days.
This is my recipe for the sandwich, which really isn’t one, since it is so simple.
Ingredients:
Ciabatta bread
Leftover turkey breast
Dijon mustard
Cranberry sauce
fresh green salad
Prosciutto crudo
I’ll let you decide how big, spicy, sweet, crispy you would like yours to be, so no exact measurements ;)
Directions:
1. First of all, wash the green salad, dry it a little and set it aside.
2. Heat a pan on full heat and without any oil, start frying the prosciutto until it get’s crispy. Lay it out on a plate covered with paper towel.
3. Cut the ciabatta bread in half and spread one side with dijon mustard and the other one with cranberry sauce. Place the turkey breast on the half with mustard. Next, lay the salad on top of the turkey and finish it with the bacon on top. Place the other ciabatta half on top and voilà :)
Let me know what you think of it!
I hope all of you are enjoying the holidays!
